Women at the Whale: An evening of female voices for International Women’s Day 2020

Join us at the Whale Theatre for our second annual celebration of International Women’s Day! This year, we’re partnering with Wicklow County Council’s literary event, Way with Words, to support even more women in the local arts community and to increase our storytelling footprint.

We have a short reading and Q&A planned with author Lucy Sweeney Byrne, a native Greystonian. Lucy has recently published her debut short story collection, Paris Syndrome with Banshee Press, and will be interviewed by Fiona O’Rourke of the Irish Writers Centre.

Also confirmed is Kate Feeney, a Semi-Finalist in the Funny Women Competition 2019. Kate’s comedy explores human nature, and how completely irrational— but ultimately gas— we all are.

Other performers on the lineup include Bray harpist Rachel Duffy, mezzo-soprano Lorna Breen, the Zoryanna dance troupe and the wonderful Pitch Perfect Ladies Choir.

International Women’s Day is a global day marking the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. Half of the proceeds from this event will be donated to the Greystones Family Resource Center. The show will feature local talent including female comedians, musicians, singers, poets and writers as we honour women in all their glory. Come join us!
