Wicklow Stories Film Festival

The Wicklow Stories Film Festival returns for its second year to the Whale Theatre on October 7th 2023.

Much like last year, the festival will comprise of homegrown short films, created by local, up and coming filmmakers and artists.

We are excited to screen the experimental and visceral dance film “To the Waters and the Wild” and a deeply emotional story about a Ukrainian refugee “Skedaddle”.

This year’s festival brings together themes of grief as well as hope. The mood will be lightened by well known Greystones filmmaker Zeff Lawless’ entry “Bingo”, which has been screened at festivals all over Ireland.

We also include a special screening of the documentary “The Journey to Pride”, which shows how the very first Pride Parade in Wicklow came to pass.

This year guest feature “Rise” will open the festival; followed by our selected shorts; “The Wrong God”, “Locked Inland” and “Wait for me”.

Once more the mandate for selection was that the films be created in Wicklow County, by Wicklow people, and once more, local filmmakers answered the call brilliantly.

Finally we are very proud to announce that the special guest feature of the festival will be short “Sadhbh” written by and starring Wicklow born Laura Whitmore.

The Greystones Town Team is very proud to present this year’s event, which is sure to bring the glamour of the red carpet to our seaside town.
