Making Waves Youth Theatre presents
Twelfth Night & Infernal Affairs
Making Waves Youth Theatre presents a great evening of comedy in the form of two plays, one 424 years old and the other brand new.
TWELFTH NIGHT
Presented by the Junior Group, this adaptation of William Shakespeare’s great comedy about the power of love and mistaken identity follows twins Viola and Sebastian, who are washed ashore in a strange land after a shipwreck, each thinking the other has perished. Viola disguises herself as a man, to become a servant of the local Duke Orsino. She quickly finds herself in love with the duke, despite being recruited as the messenger for his wooing of the countess Olivia. Not only is Viola’s ‘wooing’ on behalf of the Duke unsuccessful, but Olivia falls for the messenger! A wild knot of comic misunderstandings ensue that can’t fail to make you laugh. Prepare to be entertained!
INFERNAL AFFAIRS
It’s hell, but not as we know it! Presented by the Senior Group, both written and directed by Aideen Walton from a scenario developed by the group, and with original lyrics and music by Making Waves member Maisie Grey, this brand new play turns Dante’s Inferno upside down and inside out. The play has a great cast of characters that includes none other than Dan (Tay) and Beah (Trice), Satan’s son and daughter Damien and Uro (Eurydice), and a who’s who of famous (and not so famous) sinners. Hell TV’s ‘The Mourning Show’ hosts Rick and Susie can hardly suppress their rivalry, and, predictably, there aren’t many surprises from Carla the weatherwoman – it’s Hell after all!Scooper, hell’s paparazzo, keeps us up to date on recent arrivals, and of course everyone’s favourite fire-starter, the Supreme Purveyor of All That Is Evil, Satan himself, appears in person. It ends with a game of hellish Jeopardy in which an array of dodgy (and not so dodgy) contestants battle it out to win a couple of rare Amnesties – free passes to the ‘Other Place’.
