The John McCormack Songbook

Acclaimed Tenor Ross Scanlon and Pianist David O’Shea bring their sell-out recital to the Whale Theatre this September. Be transported back in time with classics such as ‘I hear you calling me’, ‘Macushla’, ‘Roses of Picardy’ and many more audience favorites. A unique performance of song and story that captures the magic of the famous Count.

This recital has travelled from the National Concert Hall, Dublin and as far as the Navideña Feria Internacional de Las Culturas, Madrid, linked to the Irish Embassy.

Ross is no stranger to stage having performed lead roles with all major Opera companies here in Ireland. He is in high demand as a recitalist and sang for HRH Prince Charles on his visit to Ireland in 2018. He trained at the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama where he was awarded the Michael McNamara Gold Medal of excellence in performance and at the Royal Academy of Music, London. Ross won the John McCormack Medal for overall best male singer at the prestigious Feis Ceoil while studying in Dublin. Additionally he also received the artist bursary award in support from the John McCormack Society.

‘Tenor Ross Scanlon sang with a commanding lightness and clarity (he’s the most promising Irish tenor I’ve heard in years)’ – The Irish Times
