Naomi Berrill Trio

Naomi Berrill is an Irish cellist, multi-instrumentalist, composer and singer-songwriter based in Florence. 

She has explored the potential of the cello as an accompanying instrument to the voice, composing and arranging songs, always leaving room for improvisation. Her performances and collaborations span different genres and artistic disciplines.

Her trio with Lorenzo Pellegrini (guitar, vocals, synth) and Andrea Beninati (cello, synth and percussion) masterfully blends the intense power of three multi-instrumentalists, creating an evocative live performance which has conquered audiences in the jazz, songwriter and classical worlds.

Her latest album “Inish” was released in October 2023, and the album marks an exciting new chapter in Berrill’s already prolific career. In this album, Berrill’s experimental approach to cello continues to explore new frontiers across multiple genres. Breaking from her practice as a solo artist, Inish marks Berrill’s first collaborative album with producer, guitarist and vocalist Lorenzo Pellgrini and drummer/cellist Andrea Beninati.

Operating as a three-piece is a new performing experience for Berrill, and it calls forth something contemporary and exciting; a fresh combination of folk, classical and jazz where her fluid and ethereal vocals—imbued with the accompanying colours of Pellegrini and Beninati—create music that is at once evocative and powerful. Jazz standards and traditional Irish airs sit alongside innovative interpretations of baroque and classical styles.
