Music and Consciousness: Svetlana Rudenko & Belenus Quartet Ireland: Tim Doyle, Niamh Ni Lochlainn, Aoife Ni Bhraoin, Matt Rafter

Music and Art practices are meditative experiences, that enhance our higher mental states, consciousness, creativity, empathy, understanding emotions, connecting with the world and discovering uniqueness of every mind and character…

Pianist Svetlana Rudenko teams up with Belenus Quartet Ireland (Tim Doyle, Niamh Ní Lochlainn, Aoife Ní Bhraoin, Matt Rafter) to perform Quintet in F-minor by Franck Cesar (1879) which has “torrid emotional power” as described by Edouard Lalo, leaves no one unmoved, and Tim Doyle’s newly composed Nocturne for Piano Quintet (2020) as a reflection on disasters of the natural world.

Tim Doyle: “This piece was conceived in January 2020 while the fires burned through the Australian forests and national parks. With the destruction of the natural world happening before our very eyes I wanted to capture the natural world in its purest form through melody, the most natural form of communication through music. The destruction of the natural world is represented by irregular time signatures and dissonance.

Mid-way through composing this piece, the COVID-19 pandemic took hold all over the world. I briefly paused writing it, but eventually made my way back to it, as creating music became an integral part in our lives when dealing with social-isolation. We all learned that music and the arts has the power to connect us all even when we are apart.”
