Adjacent Meridian Point,
Our October 27th extravaganza is just the sort of night that Spike Milligan would have loved, Jazzin’ It Up For Uganda devilishly mixing comedy and America’s finest musical invention for an evening of music and laughter, and giving.
On the laughter front, we’re very proud to host the Wicklow debut of the hilarious comedy duo known as The Dirt Birds, with Sue Collins and Sinead Culbert letting the one-liners and the handbags fly as two talking headers putting the world to rights. Think Waiting For Gateaux.
On the music front, it’s acclaimed songbird Carmel McCreagh with her own particular take on some much-loved jazz standards, along with the somewhat legendary Fiachra Trench (who’s worked with everyone from Van Morrison to The Corrs) on piano and inspiration.
The most important aspect of the night though is Uganda, as we raise money for The Jinja Pregnancy Care Centre and The Jacobsens’ Mercy Fund which focuses on keeping the family unit together and funding unsupported emergency medical cases. Carolyn left Wicklow in 1984, and today, the couple devote their new lives in Uganda to giving orphaned children a chance of a better life.
So, this is a sort of homecoming, a party, and a wonderful opportunity to offer a helping hand to those in desperate need. Even when they’re 2,484 miles away.
Ticket price includes a welcome fizz on arrival and canapes.
