Greystones Cancer Support Gala Charity Night
Featuring GCS Annual Super Draw.
With special performance, Alive Alive O, from Dry Rain Theatre Company.
Digging deep into Dublin’s rich tradition of sharing stories and songs around many a warm fire and a cold pint, Alive Alive O is the latest historical and hysterical offering from the irrepressible and cheekily irreverent Dry Rain Theatre Company.
Celebrating the wit and wonders of those inside the Pale who also managed to be just that little bit beyond the Pale, this grand old Irish tradition is given the kiss of new life by Dry Rain’s reigning queen, Lorraine O’Brien, aided and abetted by her regular comhpháirtithe sa choireacht, Emma O’Brien and Mick Heffernan.
Emma shines as Liberties girl Valerie, off to Galway on her first-ever holiday and soon racked with guilt over her slippery shenanigans with a local fisherman.
You will also meet two old liberty bells who are on an over sixties trip to Glendalough, only to stumble upon Elvis the Pelvis Presley, what’s the ‘King doing in Saint Kevin’s Cell?? the Jailhouse Rock!?!’ All will be revealed.
Amongst all of this there is an inner child roaming around who’s one and only ambition is to be a ‘Shocking Holy Saint’. As if this was not enough, Mick Heffernan will entertain and delight you with his golden voice and musicianship. The trio who are beloved by Whale audiences are joined by guest artist Phil Keogh who will send you home shaking your hips, clicking your fingers and tapping your toes.
Given Dry Rain Theatre Company’s sterling reputation over the decades, and the acclaimed that greeted such recent hits as To Shorten The Road and The Queen Who Cancelled Christmas, you can be sure that Alive, Alive O will be a night to remember. A night made all the more magical given that it’s a charity gala performance for Greystones Cancer Support.
GCS offers guidance, encouragement and support to cancer patients, their families and their friends.
Come along for a wonderful evening’s entertainment that you don’t want to miss!!
And keep everyone on their toes!!
Diddley-aye, potatoes!
