Culture Night 2024: Sounds From The Burren

An authentic evening with rich and pure sounds from the Burren curated by Aoibheann Boyle.

Artists, musicians and singer-songwriters based in the Burren area of Clare come together to share the vibrant and vivid heritage and creativity of this ancient and unique region in the intimate surroundings of the Whale Theatre.

To open the evening we will be joined by environmental poet Grace Wells with musical accompaniment and visuals. Grace has published three books of poetry, and is currently Writer-in-Residence for Hometree Charity’s Dinnseanchas eco-arts project.

Next joining us will be Branwen Kavanagh, a musician and performance artist from the West of Ireland. Their work is imagination centric and is inspired by mythology and folklore from home and around the world. They are a songwriter, a sculptor, puppeteer, a visual artist, writer of surreal visual plays, and a lively adventurer.

Rounding out the evening will be an energetic performance from MegaTrad, an innovative and exciting trio that bring high energy, improvisation and a new tribal face to Irish traditional music.

Pre-booking is essential, and tickets will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, via the Whale Theatre website.
