Adjacent Meridian Point,
The world is shaped by ideas. Big and small, good and bad – ideas are all around us. But what makes them different, unique, or indeed…extraordinary?
On Saturday 17th November, Greystones’ Whale Theatre will come alive with “An Evening of Extraordinary Ideas” featuring performances, talks and discussion – from music to stand-up comedy; dance to neuro-linguistic programming!
Curated by Wicklow native, Brian O’ Regan, the event boasts a stellar line-up of performers and speakers including sharp-witted comedian Danny O’ Brien, daring musicians Alex Petcu (percussion) & Lina Andonovska (flute), ground-breaking movement from Rob Heaslip Dance and much more.
Based on the concept of “Extraordinary Ideas”, Brian describes the programme as “a fusion of ideas – all of them extraordinary in their own particular way. From Danny O’ Brien’s hilarious, thought-provoking ideas to the mind-blowing performances of Alex, Lina and Rob – everything here is based on a truly extraordinary idea and I’m absolutely delighted to be able to bring all of these ideas together in one evening!”
Kicking off is award-winning Irish comedian, Danny O’ Brien fresh from sell-out performances at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe! The Sunday Independent calls Danny “genuinely, uproariously funny with a huge stage presence and wicked timing” who, alongside comedy legends including Simon Pegg, Dylan Moran and Dara Ó Briain, was selected for the iconic “Best of The Edinburgh Fest” Show which toured Australia in 2016.
The explosive combination of Alex Petcu and Lina Andonovska brings together two fearless innovators in the world of contemporary classical music. Alex Petcu is a multi award-winning Irish percussionist of Romanian origin and this extraordinary collaboration with critically acclaimed Australian flautist Lina Andonovska will make for a truly awe-inspiring experience. Striking performances also come from Scottish/Irish dance group led by Rob Heaslip, who presents a workshop performance of his innovative new work, A Glimpse of Flesh & Blood.
A panel of high profile festival directors and arts leaders will lead a discussion on the arts and cultural sector in Ireland and Theatre Lane will even be showing off its own “Extraordinary Idea”, with Guided Tours of the brand new Boutique Loft Apartments with interior designer Sharon Ryle. These will take place from 6.30pm before the event begins at 7.30pm.
Among this unique combination of performance and discussion, the brains behind music education software DabbledooMusic will also give an interactive demo and Dancer/Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Sarah Ryan speaks about how we can all live a happy, authentic life.
