50 Years of Bowie’s Aladdin Sane

David Bowie’s seminal Aladdin Sane exploded onto the rock scene like a lightning bolt 50 years ago this year. Come and listen as Playback perform the album from start to finish – dramatic vocals, guitar workouts, piano fury and all. Expect plenty of makeup, glitter, props, creative arrangements and theatrical movement, plus a sprinkling of the Starman’s greatest hits.

Playback is an “album tribute” band. They play classic albums by iconic music figures all the way through, rounding out their sets with some of the artists’ greatest hits. So far their repertoire includes Bob Dylan’s Blonde on Blonde, David Bowie’s Aladdin Sane and Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense. They have played all around Ireland, and performed headline shows at Dublin Bowie Festival in 2018 and 2023. They currently enjoy a residency at Dublin’s Sugar Club with their show “Still Don’t Make No Sense: The Music of Stop Making Sense”, and have built a reputation for fusing their musical sensibilities with theatrical flair and high-octane abandon.
