HARK! HEAR CLASSIC HARMONY SING!

As his award-winning family bring their close-harmony singing to The Whale for a special Christmas Concert, FRANK KELLY digs into Santa’s sack for his festive favourites…

My enjoyment of Christmas is mainly through the music that I associate with it.

I particularly love to perform the music along with my family group, Classic Harmony.

We have been singing Christmas music together for 15 years now, going right back to when we recorded some songs for the Bewley’s window exhibit in 2010!

For me, Christmas music covers the whole range from classical pieces like Messiah (which I have conducted about 15 times!) to classic Christmas carols like Hark the Herald Angels Sing or In The Bleak Midwinter.

But my favourite pieces are the more unusual carols by composers like John Rutter or Dan Forrest.

And let’s not forget the good old Christmas songs that we all know and love, festive favourites which have echoed down through Yuletide celebrations year after year.

We particularly love the more jazzy numbers like Sleigh Ride – a big hit for The Ronettes in 1963 – and The Holiday Season, the song that Andy Williams made his own.

We aim to bring the essence of Christmas to our concert in The Whale by performing a mix of all these elements – classic carols, modern carols and festival songs.

Do come and join us for a very festive night…

You can catch Christmas Cheer with Classic Harmony at The Whale on Sunday, December 8th at 8pm. Tickets here: https://whaletheatre.ticketsolve.com/ticketbooth/shows/873649647
