Show Me The Funny

Six of Ireland’s finer comedians combine for It Takes A Village fundraiser.

Having made international news – from the evil Fox to the fair and balanced BBC – It Takes A Village gets some love from Greystones comedy world on November 18th.

That’s when Kevin McGahern, Julie Jay, Colm O’Regan, Bernard O’Shea, Pine Gallagher and Aidan Greene will be hitting The Whale stage to help raise some funds for the Greystones initiative to bring play therapists to every school in town.

And with each of them being parents, they’ll also bring their own unique perspective on the fine art of having kids.

And there’s a rich vein of comic material there to explore. According to early 20th century American lawyer and noted wit Clarence Darrow, the first half of our lives is ruined by our parents and the second half by our children.

Or maybe they can elaborate on Sir Karl of Pilkington’s view that kids are like farts – they never seem to bother their owner as much as they do everybody else in the room.

Either way, it’s going to be a fun night, with all those performing offering their services for free so It Takes A Village can another step forward in creating a generation of happy, healthy kids.

Which is incredibly important, of course, given that one fine days, it’ll be their turn to look after us.

It Takes A Village Funny-Raiser is happening on Saturday, November 18th at 8pm. Tickets are €30, available here:
