Into The Woods

Mary Curran from the WhistleBlast Quartet reveals how the family concert If You Go Down To The Woods came together…

WhistleBlast Quartet musicians, Conor Linehan, Mary Curran, Oonagh Keogh and Ken Edge have been creating their own special family concerts since 2006, including a concert series in the National Concert Hall, Dublin.

The group tours extensively performing to young people and their families with the aspiration to inspire all their young audiences to become involved in live music and possibly begin to play or continue to develop skills as young musicians! they are also accessible to everybody, including the adults who bring the little ones along..

This show was one of a series of concerts originally designed for the National Concert Hall WhistleBlast performances. As with all the quartets’ shows, there is plenty of lighthearted, musical education and interaction with the audience.

Music chosen is familiar and unfamiliar, and includes some storytelling to make this music truly accessible to its young audience! If You Go Down to the Woods includes WhistleBlast’s own version of Little Red Riding Hood, featuring her musical adventure through the forest to visit granny!

Come along and have a bit of fun with WhistleBlast, with all kinds of music, from Carmen to James Bond.
