Hailing from Van Morrison territory, Dr Linley Hamilton has been blowing his trumpet in the name of goodtime jazz for over two decades now.

When he’s not busy giving lectures, that is, or classing up the airwaves on Radio Ulster.

I fell in love with jazz in the true sense back in my early twenties, through the Irish Youth Jazz Orchestra – which was conducted by Bobby Lamb, a master educator and motivator.

Just hanging with the musicians opened so many doors not just to gigs but to what to listen to. Freddie Hubbard and Clifford Brown at the time. Still my heroes…
