STEPPING OUT OF THE STEREOTYPE

Sorely aware of the social standing that comes with being a traveller, the award-winning actor John Connors has spent pretty much all of his adult life popping that particular bubble.

Shooting to fame in the hit TV series Love/Hate, such movies as King Of The Travellers, Monged and The Secret Scripture were proof that Connors was a talent to be reckoned with.

And when he picked up the IFTA award recently for Best Actor, he was ready to let the world know that his background can still, bizarrely, hold him back. Despite the fact that he had just co-created and headlined one of the biggest-grossing Irish movies of 2017 – namely, Cardboard Gangsters.

Coming to The Whale to launch our new series entitled My Favourite Things, Connors will talk about his favourite book and and his favourite album, whilst also revealing his favourite film. More importantly, perhaps, he will talk about the fact that, despite the awards and the box-office, the man still can’t get an agent…
