Afternoon Delights

Here at The Whale, we’re very aware of the fact that, for some people, a lazy, hazy afternoon is their favourite time for a treat.
And that’s why we’re organising a series of Sunday shows that will give such lounge lovers of art a chance to soak up some culture, and still be in bed by 9pm. And each of them will feature a certain Delgany-based classical outfit with an ever-growing reputation…
On Sunday, October 8th at 4pm, The Delgani Ensemble will be embracing Tango, Jazz & Swing as they pay tribute to the likes of Cole Porter, Scott Joplin and George Gershwin with their own particular arrangements.
On the 22nd, the Sunday afternoon delight will see The Delgani Ensemble being joined by one of Ireland’s leading sopranos, Cara O’Sullivan, a singer who has taken operatic leads with the likes of Glyndebourne On Tour, The Royal Opera House, |Pera de Nantes and Opera Ireland. Fiachra Trench is the arranger for a repertoire of music that will include Ravel, Reynaldo Hahn, Mozart’s Oboe Quartet and Vaughan Williams’ Along The Field.
Finally, on Sunday, November 12th, The Delgani Ensemble have Chopin and Brahms Piano Trio in their sights for what promises to be yet another beautiful end to your week. And an inspiring start to the next…
